Throughout Bitcoin’s 10 year history there has been a great deal of speculation as to who Satoshi Nakamoto— the anonymous creator of Bitcoin (BTC)— really is. Thus far there has been no proof as to who Nakamoto is, despite people like Craig Wright claiming to be him/her/them.
However, according to a mysterious website called GotSatoshi.com, the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto will be revealed on May 14, 2019.
According to the tweet seen above, Nakamoto’s Twitter handle is @gotsatoshi and he/she will be revealing their identity on May 14. If this has caught your interest, you can sign up with an email address for the unveiling at GotSatoshi.com.
The website features a countdown timer to the reveal date and time where people who sign up can experience the unveiling live when it happens.
The unveiling will purportedly take place at 15:50 GMT, which is conveniently placed in the middle of the second day of Consensus 2019 in New York City.
Therefore, it’s highly speculated that this is simply a PR stunt orchestrated by someone attending the Consensus event, which is said to be the most highly anticipated crypto conference of the year.
As previously reported by IIB, John McAfee— the infamous anti-virus software creator and crypto enthusiast predicting a $1 million BTC price by 2020— claims to know who Satoshi Nakamoto is, says he is alive and has zero influence over Bitcoin.
Therefore, perhaps McAfee is behind the GotSatoshi.com website. Or maybe it’s another publicity stunt being pulled by Craig Wright to put himself in the spotlight once again for claiming that he is Satoshi.
Regardless of who is revealed to be Nakamoto on May 14, it doesn’t really matter unless they are able to prove whether or not they are Satoshi by moving an amount of Bitcoin from the 1 million BTC address held by Satoshi Nakamoto.
