Vitalik Says Research for Ethereum 2.0 Was Actually Ready For a Year Now Much Before $30M Funding

The Ethereum Foundation recently published a detailed blog post where they described how $30 million in funding would be budgeted for the development of the network. This included funding for the development of layer-2 scaling solution Plasma, Ethereum 2.0, smart contract languages, and ecosystem expansion, among many other priorities.

Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, has said that all of the research breakthroughs required for Ethereum 2.0 has been in place for about a year, in response to a tweet by Adamant Capital founding partner Tuur Demeester, who questioned if money alone could bring about the changes required,

Ethereum 2.0 will bring with several improvements, such as the much talked about sharding and PoS consensus. Sharding allows for transactions to be validated in parallel, and is one of the many scaling solutions being worked on.
