Unconfirmed: US Copyright Office Claims Craig Wright Wrote Bitcoin Whitepaper, Bitcoin SV Explodes 100% in Minutes

BREAKING: Craig Wright, founder of Bitcoin SV (BSV), has purportedly been granted US copyright registrations for the original Bitcoin whitepaper and most of the original Bitcoin code (version 0.1). This would indicate that Wright may, in fact, be Satoshi Nakamoto – the creator of Bitcoin (BTC).

This news came to light in a report published by CoinGeek, a news publication owned by Calvin Ayre who happens to be very good friends with Wright. Given the news source’s less-than-neutral stance on the matter, it is well worth taking this news with a grain of salt until it is confirmed; however, the effect it has had on BSV’s price is phenomenal.

Is Craig Wright Actually Satoshi Nakamoto?

According to the CoinGeek report, the US Copyright Office recognizes Wright as the author of the famed Bitcoin whitepaper and code, marking this the first time a government agency recognizes Wright as being Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.

The US Copyright Office purportedly granted Wright the following registrations:

“U.S. copyright registration no. TXu 2-136-996, effective date April 11, 2019, for the paper entitled Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, with year of completion 2008. The registration recognizes the author as Craig Steven Wright, using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.”

U.S. copyright registration no. TX-8-708-058, effective date April 13, 2019, for computer program entitled Bitcoin, with year of completion 2009 and date of first publication January 3, 2009. The registration recognizes the author as Craig Steven Wright, using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright wrote most of version 0.1 of the Bitcoin client software, and the registration covers the portions he authored.”

The above registrations indicate that Wright has finally succeeded in legally establishing himself as the creator of Bitcoin, something which he has been feverishly claiming for some time now.

Which Bitcoin Is the Real Bitcoin?

Wright claims that his original Bitcoin design has been bastardized by various protocol developer groups, namely by Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) developers in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

According to Wright, these developer groups have made non-canonical protocol changes that took Bitcoin’s development in a different direction than initially intended.

Therefore, Wright created Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision (BSV) as an attempt to restore Bitcoin’s original protocol. BSV came into existence last November as a fork of Bitcoin Cash (BCH), after a grueling hash war that nearly crashed the entire market. Since BSV’s emergence, the coin has dropped in value significantly. However, in light of this news, it has gone up over 100% in minutes from $62 to a local high of $139.

Do you think Craig Wright is actually Satoshi Nakamoto? Is the US Copyright Office recognizing Wright as the author of Bitcoin’s white paper enough proof? Or does this all seem like a too-convenient ploy to boost BSV’s price? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
