TRON’s Founder Donates $250,000 to ALS Association

Justin Sun, founder of Tron (TRX), one of the largest blockchain protocols for building decentralized applications (dapps), has donated $250,000 towards the #VoiceYourLove awareness campaign. In addition to Sun’s donation, he’s urging crypto community members to help find a cure for ALS by donating to the cause.

Sun said in a statement:

“The TRON and BitTorrent community has over 100 million people, and it’s statistically possible that thousands of you are afflicted with ALS. In your honor, I’m donating $250,000 and urging others in the blockchain industry to voice their love by donating to help find a cure.”

For anyone looking to contribute to the ALS awareness campaign, you can do so at  voiceyourlove.org, the official campaign website.

Using Blockchain Technology to Increase Transparency of Charitable Donations

One of the greatest aspects of blockchain technology is its public open nature, which can be used to increase transparency of the record keeping for charitable events, ensuring the money donated is going to where it’s needed.

In an effort to implement this use case, the TRON foundation will be using their distributed ledger technology (DLT) to keep a record of the donations received and where donations are disbursed. At the end of the campaign, the TRON Foundation will release this information to achieve complete transparency.

In addition to Sun’s $250,000 donation, Binance has donated $150,000 to the cause through the Binance Charity Foundation.

For people who would like to donate to the cause with cryptocurrency, you can do so with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Binance Coin (BNB) through www.binance.charity, a blockchain-powered donation platform.
