Top 10 Cryptocurrency News Websites

If you’re investing in blockchain technology, you’ll need to stay on top of the latest developments, consider various points of view, and there’s always more to learn about the fundamentals of the technologies involved.

Of course, here at Invest In Blockchain we strive to give you the essential information you need to make informed decisions. However, the world of blockchain technology is too large and fast-paced for any one news source to be all encompassing, so we recommend you have more than one source to get the most well-rounded perspective possible.

There is a lot of overlap of information on these sites, particularly when it comes to breaking news, as sites will reference each other. Once a story is released on one, most of the others will follow suit. Nonetheless, differences in editorial style and presentation will appeal to different tastes, so it’s good to have various options to choose from.

Here we recommend some of best cryptocurrency news sites that we look to in order to keep up with the latest news in the world of blockchain.

Coindesk is one of the more established cryptocurrency news sites, having been founded in 2013. Currently it’s the largest news site by visitor volume. Each month they get over 10 million users, on average visiting about 5 times a month.

Coindesk is a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group (DCG), who are investors in various blockchain projects. However, Coindesk strives to keep their content segregated from their parent company’s financial interests by maintaining separate offices and in-house policies that prevent Coindesk staff from knowing the details of DCG’s portfolio management.

This site is a good all-around news site, covering a range of topics from latest news, ICO investments, market trends, and educational information to help people get up to speed on the world of cryptocurrency. Articles are in the range of 1,000 or more words, so topics are covered with a reasonable amount of depth.

With a signature cartoon style to the images accompanying all its articles and short article lengths, CoinTelegraph projects a softer, more welcoming image than most other cryptocurrency-related sites. Articles tend to be around 500 words in length, sometimes more, but in any case are generally pared down to the essential points.

The articles are split evenly between general news and reports on the state of the market, both overall and for specific tokens. With lots of different tokens being addressed, this site seems suited to a user who might have lots of holdings and is looking to get an overview of the market in easily digestible portions of information.

The news section of has some of the most up-to-date news articles, and some of the highest volume of content, which is part of the reason why it is consistently in the top 5 in terms of the visitor traffic. The news section is just one part of a site that offers multiple services relating to Bitcoin, such as mining, wallets, gambling, and more.

The site openly states their bias toward Bitcoin Cash, and this is reflected in their editorial content. One will find more articles here about the development and adoption of Bitcoin Cash than most other sites. However, when it comes to covering other coins, such as Ethereum or Monero, they are as evenhanded as any other site.

The news is focused more towards Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and cryptocurrency projects where the focus is currency, and less so about investment opportunities. This site is recommended if you are looking for news that is more about cryptocurrency adoption in the wider world, and are less concerned with ICOs and the latest blockchain startup.

Cryptovest bills itself as a place for you to find out about ICOs and new blockchain projects. Front and center on their top page is a listing of current ICOs with a countdown to when the token sale is over.

They don’t provide specific advice on exactly which ICOs you should or should not invest in, but they do list scams and problematic ICOs that they believe you should definitely stay away from. They also have news and opinion pieces about information that is tangentially related to blockchain developments.

They also offer a directory of people, companies, and events as a starting point for people who might want to try and network to get more directly connected with projects they are interested in.

Starting in 2013 as and then later renamed, CCN is one of the older and more established of the news sites. The site gets around 12 million monthly page views, putting it in the top 5 sites by monthly traffic.

CCN is a sister site to, which also offers news and insights. The difference is that is a paid site offering some exclusive content to members, and CCN is entirely free.

From early on, under its previous name, CCN focused on Bitcoin-related news, as that was essentially the only game in town at the time. That tendency to prioritize Bitcoin is still there, though they’ve evolved to cover all the current cryptocurrencies to some extent.

The site includes handy graphs and lists of current market conditions, such as token market capitalizations, exchange rates, and trade volume.

Bitcoinist may have taken on its name when it seemed like Bitcoin was the only cryptocurrency that mattered, but since that time they’ve evolved alongside the market to include news on a wide variety of tokens.

That said, they still offer Bitcoin-related news on its own section of the site, with all other coins in another. There is also a separate ICO section which would be of interest to investors. News tends to be short and therefore easily digestible, making it good for people who want a quick overview of the current state of affairs.

One feature on Bitcoinist that one won’t find in many other places are reviews of gambling sites. Gambling is one area in which Bitcoin and other currencies have made high profits for a lot of people, and so there are many gambling sites trying to get in on that action.

The site also offers a way to for site visitors to purchase Bitcoin using a credit or debit card, as well as Bitcoin mining. This may make the site seem unfocused, but the news it does offer is timely and frequent.

In addition to news and insights, Blockonomi also aspires to provide assistance to people who may be newer to the world of cryptocurrency by offering guides and tutorials to various aspects services and possible ways of getting involved.

The guides offer a beginner’s look into all things crypto, from coins to blockchain companies to decentralized platforms and beyond. The guides offer a detailed description of what the subject matter is and how to use it. They’re worth a read and are a pretty quick way of packing in a lot of crypto knowledge if you’re under a time crunch.

There are also specific guides on mining. Topics that deal with how to mine certain coins, what mining is, how to purchase mining equipment, and the like fill this section of the site — not to mention news on mining-related stories.

Finally, Blockonomi publishes articles on ICOs that provide detailed descriptions of the projects and their most important information, such as what the token will do and when the ICO is happening.

A newcomer to the block, Blockonomi started in 2017 but the site has quickly grown thanks to its guides and tutorials, giving readers informational articles to better their understanding of the cryptocurrency world and all that’s going on in it.

At Blockonomi, there’s a bigger focus on providing educational content rather than simply reporting the news in the vein of most other crypto sites. If learning is what you want, then Blockonomi is probably the right site for you. In addition to its how-to guides, the site contains a “Fundamentals” section with informational content on buying crypto, exchanges, wallets, and the history of cryptocurrency.

Cryptoslate is one of the newer cryptocurrency websites, also having started in 2017. Like most other sites, they offer news, market charts, and information about blockchain fundamentals.

The main advantage Cryptoslate offers to differentiate it from other crypto news sites is its robust search functions, particularly its event finder. With multiple search filters, one can narrow down to the most relevant conferences and community events. The search bar on the the top page also does a good job of pulling out information on specific tokens or projects, providing not just articles but charts and data as well.

Cryptoslate also has an ICO database that lets you explore ICOs by various metrics, such as start and end time, total token supply, team profiles, descriptions, and more. They also take in suggestions for edits from site visitors, so if you spot an error or would like to help expand the knowledge base, you can contribute, as well as reap the benefits of others who have contributed before you.

NewsBTC provides news, market analysis, charts, educational resources, and more. One thing NewsBTC has that a lot of other news sites don’t is a dedicated app available for Android phone through the Google Play store.

The app provides largely the same information as the site, but the mobile-friendly interface might make it a better choice if you’re on your phone more than not. Unfortunately, at this time there’s no iPhone version.
