The challenge of the blockchain world right now is global adoption. In late 2017, a lot of people bought into crypto projects to make fast money. Many did not understand what they were getting into and hence became bitter when the market took a downturn.
To test the highs that were observed early in 2018, there is need for the global society to show faith in blockchain. A sustainable growth in the value of cryptocurrency will not be triggered by the desire to make money but by actual use cases.
Sirin Labs is a company with the mission of connecting users to the blockchain world through hardware (such as mobile phones and computers) and a security-focused OS which is a Google-certified “fork” of Android. This OS is known as SIRIN OS.
FINNEY is the brand that encompasses the smartphone and computer from Sirin Labs.
The FINNEY smartphone is built with blockchain-related features such as cold wallet storage, computational power, encrypted communication, and more. Learn more about FINNEY in our overview of this blockchain-based smartphone.

Sirin Labs has announced the date for the launch of the FINNEY smartphone. The launch event is set to happen on November 28, 2018, in Barcelona, Spain.
The exact location of the event is not disclosed, but it will be attended by media personnel, Sirin Labs contest winners, and the brand ambassador, soccer superstar Lionel Messi.
The specifications of the FINNEY smartphone are:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform
- 6” 18:9 display
- 128GB memory storage
- SD memory card slot (up to 2TB)
- 6GB RAM
- 12MPx main camera
- 8MPx front camera

The smartphone is expected to cost about $1,000 making it a competitive price in the high-end smartphone market. With P2P resource sharing, built-in cold storage crypto wallet and a distributed ledger consensus combined with other smartphone functions, the price can be said to be worth its value.
FINNEY will be pre-loaded with the Sirin Labs’ proprietary dapp store. This dapp store will give users the ability to access and trade their digital assets. The dapp store is secured by Sirin Labs’ multi-layered cyber security suite which is built into every layer of the SIRIN OS.
The smartphone also has a slide-up second display known as “Safe Screen” operated in separate firmware which protects users’ funds from hackers (and malware) and verifies that funds are being sent to the correct address.
The FINNEY smartphone will be available for purchase by the public on December 15, 2018. Interested customers can pre-order the smartphone today.
Earlier in the year, it was reported that the Taiwan-based company HTC was developing a blockchain phone. The HTC blockchain phone known as Exodus is said to be released before the end of the year.
However, this announcement by Sirin Labs puts FINNEY ahead in the race to be the first blockchain phone on the market.
