EOS had already been active on the Coinbase Pro platform, a cryptocurrency exchange designed specifically for traders, since around mid-April. However, the latest announcement now brings EOS to the entire Coinbase infrastructure, allowing all users to swap fiat and other cryptocurrencies for EOS, or vice versa.

Trading will be enabled in most jurisdictions except for those users from the United States or the United Kingdom. Coinbase has stated that further jurisdictions will be added soon.

The latest addition comes after a slew of cryptocurrencies have been added to the Coinbase platform, including cryptocurrencies such as BAT, LOOM, DAI, and MANA. Before this, Coinbase had a very strict listing policy, which included only 5 coins in their first 6 years of operation. However, in September 2018, after listening to requests for more cryptocurrencies, Coinbase created a new asset listing process as they started to expand the coins on offer.

The timing of the recent surprise addition is quite interesting due to the fact that EOS is expected to make the “Biggest Announcement” in its history tomorrow in Washington DC on June 1, 2019. Could Coinbase be privy to some behind-the-scenes information that we don’t?
